Tooth Extraction
Gentle removal of a tooth that cannot be saved, with careful aftercare to support healing.

What is a Tooth Extraction?
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket. We perform both simple extractions, for teeth visible above the gum line, and surgical extractions, for teeth that are broken at the gum line or impacted. We always discuss your replacement options so your smile and bite stay complete.
Why would a Tooth Extraction be needed?
A tooth may need to be removed when it is severely decayed, fractured beyond repair, loosened by advanced gum disease, or crowding other teeth. Removing a problem tooth can also relieve pain and prevent infection from spreading to neighboring teeth and the jaw.
Who is a candidate for a Tooth Extraction?
Extraction is recommended when a tooth cannot be saved with a filling, crown, or root canal. We take x-rays and review your medical history first. When the tooth is removed, we will discuss replacement options such as an implant or bridge to keep your bite aligned.
What happens during the procedure?
We numb the area thoroughly so you feel pressure but no pain. For a simple extraction we gently loosen and lift the tooth. For a surgical extraction we may make a small incision. We then review simple aftercare instructions — biting on gauze, ice, and soft foods — to keep you comfortable while the site heals.
