What is the iTero Digital Scanner?
The iTero is a handheld digital scanner that captures a precise, three-dimensional model of your teeth and gums in minutes. It replaces the uncomfortable, putty-filled trays used for traditional impressions. The scan powers Invisalign treatment, crowns, bridges, and retainers with greater accuracy and comfort.
Why would the iTero Scanner be needed?
A digital scan is faster, more comfortable, and more accurate than conventional impressions. There is no gag-inducing goop, no waiting for putty to set, and the image can be retaken instantly if needed. The 3D model lets us show you a preview of your treatment and fabricate restorations and aligners with a precise fit.
Who is a candidate?
The scanner is appropriate for nearly every patient needing impressions — for Invisalign, crowns, bridges, and other restorations. It is especially welcome for patients with a strong gag reflex or sensitivity to traditional impression material.
What happens during the scan?
We move the small scanner wand around your mouth, capturing thousands of images per second that build a real-time 3D model on our screen. The process takes only a few minutes, is completely radiation-free, and you can watch your scan appear as it happens. The model is then sent directly to the lab or used to plan your treatment.
